Meet the Writer/Editor

Welcome, I am Lorrie R. Chesnut:

I am a certified editor, writer, and document designer with more than seven years of experience. My love for language and storytelling has helped me build skills in a variety of roles.

 

My family encouraged me to study English and Creative Writing, focusing on Editing and Document Design. Their support helped me develop as a writer and editor.

 

At a speculative fiction journal, I moved up from editor to editor-in-chief. Even with the challenges of the pandemic, my team printed the spring issue early and filled over 200 orders on time. This experience improved my editing, document design, and deadline management skills.

 

At a small press publisher, I preformed developmental and substantive editing, copyediting, proofreading, and contributed as a ghostwriter on several projects. I worked on suspense and fantasy novels, book summaries, and marketing blurbs.

 

In 2022, I started as a technical editor at Terracon Consultants Inc. I edited technical reports, checked language, made sure documents met regulations, and kept formatting consistent with company standards.. I worked closely with environmental scientists and geotechnical engineers to clarify terms and revise technical sections for accuracy. I also researched, wrote, and edited several EPA Brownfield grants. Working with project managers and experts helped me get better at organizing, reviewing, and finishing projects on tight deadlines.

 

During a rebrand, I created templates, wrote resumes and proposals, managed social media, and helped promote our office open house.

 

Bringing together creativity and planning has taught me a lot as a writer and editor. I take pride in making sure my work is clear, accurate, and visually appealing.

I opened the doors as Chesnut Reed LLC in November 2025 and am enjoying the opportunity to use and expand my skills in the freelance editing and writing market
